Free Download GMail Drive

GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Mail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium.

GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google Gmail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your Gmail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag'n'drop files to it.

Ever since Google started to offer users a Gmail e-mail account, which includes storage space of 6000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. With GMail Drive you can easily copy files to your Google Mail Account and retrieve them again.

When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment. GMail Drive periodically checks your mail account (using the Gmail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures. But basically GMail Drive acts as any other hard-drive installed on your computer.

How to Build a Solar Powered Laptop Charg

A method for powering portable computers by photovoltaic means. Netbooks, Notebooks, MP3 players charged by the sun.

Show Ads
Steps

1. Start small until you understand what you are doing and work your way up. Read more on the solar cell they are interested in using and read up on panel design techniques. Basically the solar cells must be mounted inside a housing which has to be sealed from the elements to prevent dust and condensation from forming on the cells which will reduce the power output severely.
2. Ascertain exactly what your power requirements are. If you are designing for a specific device, read the label on your device or its power supply; this will specify the voltage and watts required to charge your device. If you are trying to design a charger for multiply devices, you must use the maximum voltage and wattage of the most power hungry device in your target group. - it will require a sizable panel to charge multiple device simultaneously. If this is your goal, design the charger to produce 110 or 220, whichever is your normal power line voltage. Then just use the standard chargers and plug them into the panel - this will save you a lot of design time for making multiple d.c. voltages available for different devices, it will also give you more flexibility in adding future device.
3. If you are designing for a single voltage/wattage combo, i.e., 12volt 12 watts, the conversion of Watts to Amps is governed by the equation Amps = Watts/Volts:

* For example, 12 watts/12 volts = 1 amp - so there is your design spec, you need to build a device that will output 12 volts - if you want to charge the device directly from the solar panel without using the power adaptor that came with your device, you also need to understand what sort of charge cycle your battery requires. Different battery chemistries require different charging techniques. This wiki explains some of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trickle_charging.
4. Read up on parallel and series wiring - which is not very complicated - basically if you tie the "+" of one solar cell to the "-" of the next solar cell and repeat this your volage will be a multiple of the number of cells tied together - ie if each cell is .5 volts and you tie 24 cells together like this, you will have a panel that is wired in series and produces 12 volts (24 x .5) - this does not multiply wattage/amperage, only voltage. So if your cells output .5 volts and 10 watts, your panel will output 12 volts and 10 watts. To increase wattage you tie multiply panels together using parallel wiring, in parallel wiring you tie the "+" wires from the other panels together and the "-" wires together with the "-" wires from the other panels - do not tie the plus and minus together or you will short out your panels. So if you tie two panels together (each panel is wired in series) in parallel, you will now have an output of 12 volts and 20 watts. You use this technique to combine cells into panels to produce your desired output voltage/amperage/wattage per your spec.
5. If you are building an ac voltage panel, add an inverter which converts d.c. to a.c. and supplies a clean sine wave so that any device you plug into the panel will operate properly.

Warnings

* Solar cells can produce lethal voltages, understand what you are doing before you start. Use small cells and low voltages until you understand what you are doing. If you kill yourself, no one is at fault except you, so don't try this if you don't understand what you are doing. Millions of solar panels have been built and very few people have died, but you could be the unlucky one if you don't pay attention and understand what you are doing.

Free Download DVD Shrink

DVDShrink is software to backup DVD discs. You can use this software in conjunction with DVD burning software of your choice, to make a backup copy of any DVD video disc.

DVDShrink will also burn your backup DVD, if you have installed the latest version of Nero. You can also download a demo version of Nero here. If you already possess alternative burning software and prefer to stick with it, then you can still use DVD Shrink. The output from DVDShrink can be saved as files on your hard drive, which you can then burn with software of your choice.

Why Use DVDShrink?

Most DVDs are designed to prevent you from making copies.

The first preventative measure is encryption. Commercial DVD titles are often encrypted, which prevents you from either copying them to your hard drive, or if you manage to do so, being able to play the resulting files. DVDShrink overcomes this problem with built-in decryption algorithms.

The next problem is not so easy. Most DVD video titles are simply too large to fit, without modification, onto a single recordable DVD-R disk. DVDShrink overcomes this problem by compressing or "shrinking" the data from your original DVD.

DVDShrink also allows you to re-author your DVD. You can make your own compilation from one or more source DVDs, or select only the parts of a DVD which you intend to view, thus preserving more space on your backup for the highest quality viewing.

Last but not least, why use DVD Shrink? Because DVDShrink is free!

Free Download Rootkit Revealer 1.71

Download Rootkit Revealer 1.71
Rootkit Revealer 1.71
Microsoft SysInternals - 226KB (Freeware)

* Description
* Technical

RootkitRevealer is an advanced rootkit detection utility. It runs on Windows NT 4 and higher and its output lists Registry and file system API discrepancies that may indicate the presence of a user-mode or kernel-mode rootkit.

RootkitRevealer successfully detects many persistent rootkits including AFX, Vanquish and HackerDefender (note: RootkitRevealer is not intended to detect rootkits like Fu that don't attempt to hide their files or registry keys).

Since persistent rootkits work by changing API results so that a system view using APIs differs from the actual view in storage, RootkitRevealer compares the results of a system scan at the highest level with that at the lowest level. The highest level is the Windows API and the lowest level is the raw contents of afile system volume or Registry hive (a hive file is the Registry's on-disk storage format).

Thus, rootkits, whether user mode or kernel mode, that manipulate the Windows API or native API to remove their presence from a directory listing, for example, will be seen by RootkitRevealer as a discrepancy between the information returned by the Windows API and that seen in the raw scan ofa FAT or NTFS volume's file system structures.

Steps

1. Open a Gmail account if you don’t already have one.
2. Create a Google Analytics Account.
3. Click on: 'Add Website Profile.' Installing Google Analytics does not require knowledge of HTML, but there is a piece of HTML code that must be copied onto your blog.
4. In the box, enter your URL. (For example: www.yourwebsite.com or yourblog.blogspt.com.)
5. Set your Country and Time zone, and hit Continue.
6. Highlight the tracking code displayed in the large box and 'Copy'.
7. Sign into Blogger. Click on the 'Layout' Tab, then click on 'Edit HTML'
8. Click on 'Download Full Template' to back up your template onto your computer. It's always a good idea to back up your template before you make any changes.
9. Scroll down to the bottom and paste the tracking code just before the closing 'body' tag.
10. Back in Google Analytics, click on 'Check Status' or 'Verify Tracking Code' under the Status column. Once your tracking code has been verified, the status will change to: 'Receiving Data.'

Tips

* Installing Google Analytics is a huge step towards taking control of your online marketing. It will open your eyes to valuable information about your website visitors and display the data in an easy to read, easy to understand format. Over time you will see trends that you could not have discovered any other way.
* The longer you have have Google Analytics installed, the more interesting and valuable the data will be.
* To remind yourself what the code you have added to the template is for, add a comment above it like this

[edit] Warnings

* It will take about 24 hours or so after you install Google Analytics before you start seeing any data. Check back the next day to familiarize yourself the various reports.

How to Organize Your Digital Photos Share your know-how with wikiHow

Taking photos with your digital camera is fun, easy, and addictive. Suddenly you find yourself with hundreds of photos on your hard drive, as well as printed out all over your desk, room, and walls. What should you do to organize and catalogue your photos? Here are some tips to help you clean up the clutter, and enjoy your digital memories.

Steps

1. Download a free image organizer. Fast small ones include Xnview (open source) and Irfanview (popular). Picasa from Google is an easy-to-use photo management tool. However, read the fine print on the agreement you sign with Picasa/Google. It gives Google the rights to all of the photos you put on the site, for their unrestricted use.
2. When you transfer your photos from your camera to your computer, immediately put them into a folder on your hard drive -- not just My Pictures, but create a subfolder by date (use reverse date format e.g. 2007-06-26 which is listed better by computers ordering files by name), event name or both.
3. If you already have copious numbers of photos dumped into your My Pictures folder, take some time to create subfolders as described above, and sort them into the appropriate folder.
4. Regularly back up your photos by burning them onto a CD or DVD. Nothing is worse than having a hard drive crash and losing all of your pictures. Then, put your CD or DVD into a box, holder, or album (you can find 'photo albums' for picture CDs in photography shops) so you know where it is and have easy access.
5. As soon as the ink is dry, organize your photos into albums. The sooner you do this, the fewer photos you will have piling up and cluttering your space, not to mention getting damaged.
6. Do the above step for all of the photos you already have printed out. Use different albums to catalogue and categorize -- for example, you can keep separate albums for friends, events you attend, and 'artful' shots that you take.
7. Remember that if you back up your photos onto a CD, and leave them on the computer as well, you will eventually find you have multiple copies of the same photo in different folders. In Picasa2, when you back up pictures, Picasa will remember not to double up on the same CD.
8. My rule is to put only photos about a particular subject on each CD and label it as such, such as "grandkids" or "reunion 98" then if you want a particular subject you can find it easily because you don't have "sewing projects" on the same CD as "Reunions"

Steps

1. Find an article you wish to see placed in Google Earth.
2. Click “Edit this page” at the top of the page.
3. At the bottom of the article, paste this text in: “{{coord|LAT|LONG|display=title}}"
* “LAT” is the decimal latitude.
* “LONG” is the decimal longitude.
* "title" is the name of the article.
* Example: {{coord|42.599494|-72.738744|display=title}}
4. Check to make sure that the coordinates point to the desired location of the article by copying and pasting the code, and then deleting “|display=title”
* Example: {{coord|42.599494|-72.738744}}
5. Click “Show Preview”. You should see a globe picture, and the coordinates following.
6. Click on the coordinates link. That should take you to a “Map sources/GeoHack” page.
7. Click on “Hybrid” from Google Maps. That should open the Google Maps page, displaying the correct coordinates of your article.
8. If the coordinates point to the correct location, press the back button in your browser twice. This should bring you back to the preview page on Wikipedia.
9. Delete the “{{coord|42.599494|-72.738744}}”. This should leave the code with “{{coord|42.599494|-72.738744|display=title}}”
10. Click “Save page”.

Tips

* The Wikipedia article will not show the link. If you want it to show the link, don't follow step 9. Google will periodically index Wikipedia, looking for these coordinates. It will upload them to Google Earth. This may take a month or two.
